I think that since Benitez has taken over we have put in some performances we would not have been able to achieve under De Matteo (for example the 8-0 win vs Aston Villa and the 2-1 away win at Everton) but we have also become even more inexplicably inconsistent and the games against QPR and Southampton have underlined this respectively, specifically games at home where the team seems to be under the illusion that wins come for nothing. While I do believe we will win tomorrow I am very worried as to what Arsenal could do to our lacklustre defense on the counter-attack, especially since Azpilicueta could find himself up against Walcott or Chamberlain on the right wing. </p> <p>We will receive a boost with captain fantastic JT back in the starting line-up, Lamps looks set to continue which is great and Ba will continue to lead the line (phew). Arsenal will field their strongest squad and this means that Ramires and Luiz (who looks set to start in mid-field where he belongs) will need to keep Cazorla and Wilshere’s distribution through the centre and to the wings in check, assuming they can I think we should boss the game.</p> <p>Chelsea won the reverse fixture this season 2-1 at The Emirates with goals from Fernando Torres and Juan Mata. From the very first match of the knockout rounds we made waves, Juan Mata scoring early away at Napoli, however, we then proceeded to concede three goals and left ourselves on the brink of elimination, needless to say we turned it around and won, an outrageous feat which has now been forgotten in light of the even more outrageous performance against Barcelona in the semi-finals. Between our miraculous performances we ousted Benfica easily on an aggregate of 3-1.</p> <p>With Bayern standing in the way of our glory and our season’s salvation I know why I am feeling so sick with worry, we have Ramires, Meireles, Terry and Ivanovic missing through suspension and probably Malouda through injury but will most likely see Cahill and Luiz make it onto the pitch despite having both had injury problems recently. These things have been well documented though and I want to speak about my personal feelings over this game.</p> <p>I know every football fan from every football club in the world feels that “me against the world” mentality they have for their club and that they are often done injustice but, as a Chelsea fan, I have to say that I feel in the champion’s league we have had MORE than our fair share of heartache and that it’s about time the wheel turned. We have been robbed in both a semi-final and in a final. We have watched four solid penalty appeals denied before a 93rd minute goal sent us out of the tournament, this of course was the very next year after we watched our beloved captain miss the winning penalty in the final. There’s something that makes me believe that this HAS TO BE our year.</p> <p>If we lose this final after all the amazing things we have done in the competition this year it would be the worst memory of them all for me. This is the final chance our old legends (Terry, Lampard, Drogba,) will have to win it and for them I really hope we do.</p> <p>I am sick to my stomach with worry but I’ve got to put that aside and go and get ready, I’ll be starting the pints real early today (the championship play-off is on too). Since then he has scored a total of goals 7 for us in the league and had been the epitomy of fans’ frustration until he scored that late goal at Barcelona, sealing our place in the champion’s league final. Through all of this of course he was belittled and jeered by not only Liverpool fans from around the world but by anyone who has ever been onto 9gag.</p> <p>Tonight I think Torres has the chance to fully banish his demons and gain a huge boost of confidence. Sticking with the numbers - liverpool had slightly better possession at fifty five percent to fourty five, Liverpool had more shots on target with ten to six and Chelsea had more goals  at TWO TO ONE.</p> <p>The standard of the football was not that high with Chelsea being exhausted and Liverpool being dreadful, the sides labored through much of the match, most notably the blues after the 60th minute. The first half consisted of much horizontal shifting, Chelsea half chances and Liverpool making incessant fumbles, however, a gut-busting Ramires run lead to a chance and a goal. The second half was different and although Drogba buried Chelsea’s second it was during Liverpool’s spell of dominance that Andy Carroll came on as a substitute for the ever laughable Jay Spearing who hasn’t done anything useful since playing oompa-loompa no.5 in the remake of Charlie and The Chocolate Factory. Carroll transformed Liverpool’s performance and pulled one back with a roof-high strike into the net. Liverpool carried on and, in honesty, could have equalised but it was not to be as Cech made one of the best saves in FA cup history, to that we added some resolute (and some not so resolute) defending which was enough to get us through the 96 minutes.</p> <p>Already having seen friends bitching and moaning on various social media sites I have this to say: We have had a tough season this year, I mean really tough. Today Liverpool put on a shoddy display for 62 minutes, non-existent may be more accurate. Where Alonso once stood the oompa-loompa Jay Spearing has taken over, Carragher is quickly becoming a distant figure and not to mention departures of Hamann, Arbeloa, Cisse and Garcia since then. That did not stop Liverpool from beating us twice in 3 weeks at The Bridge earlier this season, eliminating us from the Carling cup and puncturing our premier league hopes which had begun to sink rapidly at the time.</p> <p>We saw our hopes of fourth go flying off of Papis Cisse’s right boot and out the window in the 94th minute earlier this week but of course have that champions league final to look forward to as a chance of glory and restoration.</p> <p>I feel that the FA cup is a must win in terms of confidence and also guaranteeing some silver-ware this season but, in terms of priority, tomorrow will mean a lot more to Liverpool than it will to us. In recent times I’ve come to have a constant fear of the all too familiar “drab Chelsea” performance, hopefully tomorrow won’t be one of those days. Of course we don’t want to lose as tomorrow could be another opportunity to see liverpool fans jeer Torres and call us over-spending wankers, on the flip side Torres could score a brace and bury those filthy scum (a result I’m sure we all want).</p> <p>The end of the season is upon us, let’s finish with a bang!
